An Aboriginal word meaning “little rocky hill” Gungahlin is the up-and-comer of Canberra. Ranking as one of the most prosperous areas, and with plans for it to be a main hub for Canberra’s first ever light rail service, the region is staking a great claim as the CBD of the north.
Gungahlin has housed 2981 people since last stocktake making it one of the fastest growing regions, including the suburbs Amaroo, Bonner, Casey, Crace, Forde, Franklin, Gungahlin Town Centre, Harrison, Jacka, Kenny, Kinlyside, Mitchell, Moncrieff, Ngunnawal, Nicholls, Palmerston, Taylor and Throsby.
According to projections, its population is soaring. The ACT government predict growth in the range of 20,500 people, a massive 58.6 per cent of the city's total growth between 2007 to 2019.
As reported by The Canberra Times, Gungahlin Community Council president Ewan Brown said the following: “What we've been fighting for over the years is making sure we have all the services and amenities that are consummate with the growing population.
“We've got five major road upgrades, we fought strongly for a pool, oval [and] we've been trying to get a cinema…. Everything to make a complete satellite community.”
With a rich array of reserves, top quality parks and excellent shopping facilities, Gungahlin is a safe bet for secure, exciting, futureproof family living.
