The annual Luton charity ball, held Saturday night 27 June at Hotel Realm, has been declared a record-breaking success by Luton Properties Director Richard Luton. ‘We have been so overwhelmed by the amazing response to our charity ball this year, with an early ticket sell-out to a record number of glamorous guests, and whilst the final figure is still being finalised, we believe at least $160,000 has been raised for SIDS and Kids ACT plus the $10,000 we donate to the Canberra Hospital Foundation each year.”
The Venice-themed ball saw close to 500 guests treated to the star studded night, hosted by Amanda Blair; a multi-talented personality, along with a performance by Aria award winner and recording artist Anthony Callea, which saw the crowd on their feet dancing the night away.
The evening was especially close to the hearts of everyone in the room with David Richards a volunteer for SIDS and Kids ACT, giving a speech about his own family’s experience with the loss of a child to SIDS in 2002. His passion is making sure parents who go through the same experience have counsellors to talk to once they leave hospital.
Following this touching speech the crowd was whipped into a frenzy with the Luton Live Auction Extravaganza, which had some amazing items come under the hammer, including tickets to Les Miserables and Robbie Williams in Sydney, tickets to The Wiggles Big Show in Canberra, a cruise around Sydney Harbour and return flights to Venice.
We are hearing delighted guests and sponsors are already signing up for next year’s Luton charity Ball, for what is shaped up to be arguably Canberra’s gala fashion and charitable extravaganza of 2016.
